Saturday June 27th was the 8th event of the 2015 season at The New London Waterford Speedbowl located in Waterford CT. Fans were welcomed to the track with the threat of a nor’ Easter hitting the entire Northeast ruining any chance of the racing taking place. Rain started the night but, after some track drying and cars qualifying feature events were set to start.

The first feature of the night was the 30 lap Late Model race. Ray Christian III took the lead on the very 1st lap of the event. The first of 2 cautions came out with 27 laps remaining in the event. The first restart was no good so they had to try a second time Anthony Flannery took the lead with 25 laps remaining in the event and never trailed from that spot. The second and final caution came out with 21 laps remaining in the event. The winner of the race was Anthony Flannery Jr.

The second feature of the night was the Mini Cups which run a weekly division at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts. The 57 took the lead from the first lap and held that lead for the entire race. The mini cup main event went green to green with no caution flags throughout the race. The Marissa Morgan won the 20 lap event. Anthony Marvin was second and Shane Culpa was 3rd.

The third feature of the night was the Limited Sportsman event. Corey Coates took the lead early in the race but, it only took Jack Aquilina 3 laps to take the lead away from Coates This feature event went green to green as well. Jack Aquilina won the 25 lap feature event, Corey Coates came in 2nd, and Al Stone III came in 3rd. This was back to back wins for Aquilina.

The fourth feature of the night was the Legend Cars. Timothy Depizzol was the man to take the early lead. The legends car event went green flag to green flag. Dana DiMatteo took the lead with 19 laps remaining in the event and never trailed from that position. Dana DiMatteo won the 20 lap feature, Cassandra Cole in 2nd, and Cory DiMatteo in 3rd.

The 5th and final race of the night was the SK Modified race. The Weather turned for the worse right around 7:30 and the track officials called the race. There were 15 laps remaining in the event once the race was called. The winner of the race was Craig Lutz, John Montesanto was in 2nd, and Matt Gallo was the 3rd place finisher.

The Mini Stock race that was supposed to take place later in the evening has been rescheduled for next week.
