Winner to receive $150 extra, 2nd $100 extra thanks to generous contribution

Lancaster National Speedway's Sportsman Modified division received a boost to their purse for the remainder of the 2015 season thanks to a generous donation from a long time supporter of the track.

Former speedway official and car owner, Dennis Petrie, has contributed $1,500 towards the Sportsman weekly payout for their final five points races of the season, plus the season-ending US Open on September 26. For each of those six races the winner will receive an extra $150 and the second place finisher will take home an extra $100.

The donation is being done in the memory of Petrie's late wife, Nancy, who worked at Lancaster for 14 years as a concession and hospitality manager. Nancy Petrie was also the manager of The 500 Club at Daytona International Speedway until her sudden passing on March 31, 2012.

The Petrie family has been involved with Lancaster for many years. Dennis served as a track official and later owned a Modified driven by the legendary, Sege Fidanza. Petrie's son TJ worked as on-track official for a few seasons and worked on pit crews for several drivers. His daughter, Colleen, worked in the novelty stand during the 1990s.

The Sportsman Modifieds are the top weekly division for the Seneca Resorts & Casinos Saturday Night Stock Car program at Lancaster. They will return to action on Saturday, July 18 as part of Family Night presented by Painters Plus.

Founded in 1959, Lancaster National Speedway is a multi-use facility located on 77 acres just outside of metropolitan Buffalo, NY. The facility features a 1/8-mile drag, a 5/8-mile oval track and hosts several non-motorsports events such as car shows and concerts.
