Repairs to lighting system to take place

Friday night or Saturday night "under the lights" is a phrase that has long been associated with racing at Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway, and those lights will shine a little brighter as part of the next project scheduled for facility's capital improvement plan.

IPL Electrical & Communications of Buffalo has been contracted to make repairs to a number of the light poles around the speedway. They will be replacing lamps that have burned out or have stopped working in recent years. Crews will be concentrating on the light poles that are in the infield of the stock car oval as well as the ones that line the drag strip/speedway frontstretch. Improvements will also be made to the lighting for the dragway's staging lanes, and in the stock car pits. Work will begin on Monday, July 13.

Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway is constantly striving to enhance the safety for our competitors, and these repairs will improve their visibility while racing under the lights. It will also provide for a better viewing experience for our fans in the grandstands.

This work is the latest step in Lancaster's three-year capital improvement plan. Several major projects have already been completed or are in progress, including repairing significant sections of the racing surface, replacing the large majority of boards in the grandstands, refurbishing the VIP suites and overhauling the signage around the facility. X-Press Signs will be installing new signage along Gunnville Road next week to welcome race fans as they pull into the parking lot.

Founded in 1959, Lancaster National Speedway is a multi-use facility located on 77 acres just outside of metropolitan Buffalo, NY. The facility features a 1/8-mile drag, a 5/8-mile oval track and hosts several non-motorsports events such as car shows and concerts.
