Repairs to be made to drag strip shutdown area and staging lanes

Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway has approved a second round of pavement repairs for the facility as part of its three-year capital improvement plan.

The paving work will be concentrated on parts of the drag strip as well as main concourse area. Thomann Asphalt of Lancaster has been contracted to do the project following their exemplary work on the first set of pavement repairs.

The areas of the drag strip that will be improved upon are the shutdown area, return road and the staging lanes. Thomann will repair any potholes in these areas of the facility to provide a smoother ride for our competitors. The portion of the inner-oval that is used as a pit area for drag racers will also be patched.

Several areas of the main concourse have also been targeted for pavement repairs. This will enhance our overall spectator experience with better areas for walking and congregation. The entire concourse will be also be sealed.

The second round of pavement repairs is the latest step in Lancaster's three-year capital improvement plan. Earlier this year a significant portion of the stock car oval and part of the drag strip were repaved. Several additional projects have already been completed or are in progress, including replacing the large majority of boards in the grandstands, repairing track lighting, refurbishing the VIP suites and overhauling the signage around the facility. Crews are currently on-site clearing debris and garbage from the wooded area beyond the stock car pits as well.

Founded in 1959, Lancaster National Speedway is a multi-use facility located on 77 acres just outside of metropolitan Buffalo, NY. The facility features a 1/8-mile drag, a 5/8-mile oval track and hosts several non-motorsports events such as car shows and concerts.
