As the summer weather heats up at the Jersey Shore so does the professional stock car racing action at Wall Stadium Speedway. This Saturday night the shore speedway presents the “Summer Scorcher” for the Downs Ford Modified stock cars, a 125-lap feature race that offers an astounding $5,000 to the winner!

Officials have announced that qualifying will begin at 5:30 p.m. Once qualifying for the Modifieds, Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models, O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Green Monster Insulation 4 Cylinder Stocks has been completed main event action will begin.

This 125-lap “Summer Scorcher” format, offering $5,000 to the winner, is attracting the attention of several racers in the Modified division. Invader Jimmy Blewett of Howell has said that he plans to compete while recent “Garden State Classic” champion Anthony Sesely of Matawan has also expressed interest in the big payday.

Series regulars expected to see action include top drivers Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Eric Mauriello of Howell, Brick’s Shawna Ingraham, Jackson’s Steven Reed, Brick’s Ron Frees and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River. Also among expected local entries are Adam LaCicero of Lavallette, 10-time track driving champ Chas Okerson of Freehold, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, brothers Trevor and Zack Alspach, both of Willingboro, and Jason Hearne of New Egypt.

The Modifieds are not the only racers in Saturday night’s spotlight. The 4 Cylinder Stocks, Limited Late Modified and the Factory Stocks will all see action in 25-lap main events.

In addition to the large field of present day competitors, the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will display several cars that have competed in the area in years past. The Wounded Warriors will also be on hand and will benefit from the evening’s 50/50.

In preparation for the “Summer Scorcher” the speedway will host a paid practice session for all racing divisions on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tires will be on sale during the session and “Summer Scorcher” entry forms, which are mandatory, can be filled out.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. with main events to follow.
