"Pro-Mod-A-Palooza" & Tommy Druar/Tony Jankowiak Memorial 110 on tap

Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway is set to host a pair of huge events the weekend of August 14 & 15. These two races will bring competitors from across New York state as well as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Canada to the Western New York racing facility.

On Friday, August 14 it's "Pro Mod-a-Palooza" for the Franco's Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing program, headlined by some of the top Pro Modifieds teams in the Northeast. This event was added to the schedule after the success of our Pro Mod Shootout on June 2 that drew an impressive field of 13 cars and an amazing turn out of fans.

The $5,000-to-win "Pro Mod-a-Palooza" will be even bigger as the field of Pro Mods will be nearly doubled based on the list of drivers that have already committed to the show. All drivers will have to be on their game to survive qualifying and make the eight-car ladder for eliminations.

Topping the list of drivers planning to attend "Pro Mod-a-Palooza" is Pro Modified Shootout winner, Bruce Boland of Stoney Creek, Ontatio. Boland swept the event as the #1 qualifier and then ran the table in eliminations. Former world champion, Mike Janis of Lancaster, will be returning to home his track and looking for vengeance after failing to qualify for the eight-car field on field on June 2. JR Ward of Goode, Virginia, who picked up a win at Lancaster last weekend during "Sunday Nostalgia", will make the trip north for the event as well.

Plenty of locally based teams will also be supporting "Pro Mod-a-Palooza", including Mike Stawicki, Randy Jewell, Frank Malvaso, Ron Szewczyk, Jack Grainy, Bob Bauer, Jr., Jim & Jon Flanigan and Sam Christian.

A full program of Franco's Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing will also be on tap that night. Adult all-access passes for the event are just $20, students 12-17 are $10 and kids under 12 are free. Pit gates will open at 3 PM with grandstand gates currently scheduled to open at 5 PM.

The following night, Saturday, August 15, the Race of Champions Modified Tour returns to Lancaster for the 26th annual Tommy Druar/Tony Jankowiak Memorial Modified 110. The "Tommy/Tony" race is one of Lancaster's most prestigious stock car events as it returns as a standalone event in 2015.

Reigning RoC Tour champion, Chuck Hossfeld of Ransomville, NY, leads the contingent of groundpounders after winning the first RoC race of the year at Lancaster back on June 25. Current series points leader, Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, NY, will be looking to unseat Hossfeld or his first-ever Modified win at Lancaster.

Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, NY, son of Tony Jankowiak and nephew of Tommy Druar, is searching for his first RoC Tour win of the season after mechanical issues have kept him out of victory lane on multiple occasions. It would be extra special for him to get that first win in the race held in honor of his late father and uncle.

The Tommy/Tony 110 will give Modified teams their first long distance test on Lancaster's improved racing surface. It will serve as an excellent tune up for the U.S. Open in September.

The Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders will join the Seneca Resorts & Casinos Saturday Night Stock Car program on August 15. Pit gates open at 3 PM with practice beginning at 4 PM. Racing starts at 6:30. Adult grandstand admission is just $20, students 12-17 are $10 and kids under 12 are free.
