Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway’s Seneca Resorts & Casinos Saturday Night Stock Car program returned to action on Saturday night following a week off. The X-Press Signs Late Models made their second appearance of the season as they joined the three weekly home track divisions.

Bobby Weber of Clarence Center, NY picked up his second win of the season in the X-Press Signs Late Models after leading the final 24 laps of the 30-lap feature. Weber started fifth and quickly worked his way to the front. He caught leader Ron Nurmi and passed him for the top spot on lap six.

Weber survived a challenge from Dave Russell during several late race restarts to secure the win. Russell had to settle for finishing second to Weber for the second race in a row. Dave Whittaker, Sam Fullone and Jeff Brown rounded out the top five.

Jake Lyon of Elma, NY earned his second win of the season in the Sportsman Modifieds. Lyon started on the outside of the front row for the initial green flag alongside points leader Mark Pennell. Lyon and Pennell battled side-by-side for the first five laps before Lyon wrestled away sole position of the top spot. Pennell chased Lyon the rest of the way, but he was unable to regain the lead.

Lyon cruised the rest of the way to score the victory with Pennell in second. John Barber, Neal Dietz, Jr. and Mike Fiebelkorn, Jr. posted top five finishes

Rich Sharpe of Lancaster remained perfect in the Street Stocks with his fourth win of the season, making him four for four on the year. Sharpe took the lead away from Nate Straus on a lap six restart and never looked back. Mark Hoch finished second in his first start of the season at Lancaster. Dave Wilson, Jr., Nate Straus and Jerome Hruby finished inside the top five.

Rich Bartel of Depew, NY was credited with his first 4-Cylinder feature win of the season after initial race winner Frank Prell was disqualified in post-race technical inspection. Chris Bugenhagen finished second followed by Chris Pennell, Garrett Cleversley and Joe Brunka.

Next week the Race of Champions Modified Tour returns to Lancaster for the 26th annual Tommy Druar/Tony Jankowiak Memorial 110 on Saturday, August 15. The groundpounders will go 110 laps in one of Lancaster’s most prestigious events. The Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders will also be in action. Racing starts at 6:30 PM.
