The fact that seven different drivers visited the winner’s circle in seven main events at Wall Stadium Speedway on Saturday night proves that the competition is tougher than ever at the shore speedway. Despite the fact that six of those races were double features for three divisions the point championship races in all classes remain tight with just four regular season Saturday night races remaining.

In the Snap-on Sportsman 25-lapper Shanon Mongeau of Manchester jumped to the lead two laps after a lap four restart and raced on to his third win of the year in the class and his fourth of the season. Early leader Eric Lane of Howell overcame recent tough luck here to finish second while defending champion Kevin Davison and Chris Lane, both of Howell, were third and fourth. Brick’s Robert Sutphin was fifth.

“It is a real pleasure to drive this car,” Mongeau said. “They work hard on it and it shows on the race track. Eric Lane is doing a great job and is real fast. We needed the car to be good to win.”

With 30 cars entered for competition in the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks defending champion Scott Riggleman of Manchester and point leader Joe Mongeau of Brick were winners in twin 20 lap main events.

In the first feature Riggleman took over on lap 11 when Gerry Koenig and Jerry Stanzione tangled while fighting for the lead. Mongeau advanced to second at the finish with title contender Joey Helberg of Union third and Rich Mongeau and Ronnie Mullen, both of Brick, fourth and fifth.

In the second Factory Stock main Mongeau raced through the pack to take the lead on lap 16. Both Helberg and Rich Mongeau challenged before settling for second and third, with Howell’s Steve West and Richie Byrne of Wall completing the top five.

Wall’s Robert French won the first of two Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars features wrestling with defending champion Brian Spencer of Edison most of the way. Kyle Dealaman of Warren, Eatontown’s Malcolm Campbell, Jr. and Luke Marzano were third through fifth.

In the second Legend Car 20-lapper Campbell led most of the 20-lap distance to a win that was so popular every driver in the 16 car field drove past the winner’s circle to congratulate him. Both French and Spencer challenged before finishing second and third with Dealaman fourth and Marzano fifth.

Defending champion Brian Doyle of Ronkonkoma, NY won the 35-lap “Triple Crown” race for the Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models with point leader Anthony Crimaldi of Port Monmouth and Dominic Casola of Holmdel second and third. Daryn Miller and Jackson’s Howie Conk were fourth and fifth.

Crimaldi came back to take his first win of the year in the nightcap over Bayville’s Mike Tillett, Casola, Doyle and Miller.

Wall Stadium returns to action this Saturday (Sept. 5) featuring the Downs Ford Modifieds in a 40-lapper, the Limited Late Models in a 40 lapper, the Factory Stocks in a 25-lapper, the Green Monster Insulation 4 Cylinder Stocks in a 30-lapper and a Sportsman 25-lap main event. Spectator seating opens at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying is set for 5:30 p.m. followed by main events.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on Saturdays and Sundays through September with special post-season races in October and November.
