Tight point races in all stock car divisions and carnival food and games in the grandstand midway will be the focus as the 2015 championship stock car season continues this Saturday (Sept. 12) evening at Wall Stadium Speedway. The evening will see grandstand seating opening at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying beginning at 5:30 p.m. and main event racing will follow.

In the Modified ranks Jackson’s Steven Reed is at the top of the point rankings as he seeks his first ever crown. Still, Reed’s brother in law, Freehold’s Chas Okerson, Howell’s Eric Mauriello and Brick’s Ron Frees are also within striking distance. The Modifieds are set for a 40-lap main event Saturday night.

Andrew Krause of Holmdel, defending champion Kevin Davison and Chris Lane, both of Howell, and Manchester’s Shanon Mongeau are at the top of the Sportsman chase as they prepare for a 25-lapper. Brick’s Joe Mongeau and Ronnie Mullen, Union’s Joey Helberg and Manchester’s Scott Riggleman lead Factory Stock points going into a 25-lapper.

The Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars are set for a 25-lapper with defending champ Brian Spencer of Edison and Howell’s Robert French locked in a battle for the title. In the 4 Cylinder Stocks Ronnie Mullen and Jason Lane, both of Brick, and Wall’s TJ Graves are the top point drivers going into a 25-lapper.

Saturday will also be special as Wall Stadium joins Legend Cars driver Mitchell Dowd in a shoe drive to support the “In Ian’s Boots” charity. Both fans and competitors are asked to clean out their shoe rooms and closets of lightly worn or new shoes and boots of any kind including men’s, women’s and children’s. Sports shoes are also accepted. Shoes and boots will be collected in the pit area and the grandstand midway. More information on the charity and the distribution of these boots and shoes to the needy is available at iniansboots.org.

Also scheduled to be on display in the grandstand midway Saturday are the beautifully restored cars of the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club. Many of these cars will also take part in a rolling exhibition on the third mile high-banked paved oval.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. with main events to follow.

Weekly stock car racing and championship points awarding events will continue every Saturday night through September. The “Spooky Spectacular” is then set for Saturday October 24 and the annual “Turkey Derby” will be presented on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
