FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT UP NEXT SATURDAY (SEPTEMBER 19)
With a forecast predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms for Saturday (Sept. 12) evening Wall Stadium Speedway officials have announced that the scheduled auto racing events have been cancelled. The rainout is the first that the third mile paved oval has suffered since June 20.
When action resumes this Saturday night (Sept. 19) a gigantic card of events is on tap in addition to the scheduled “Fan Appreciation Night” festivities. The centerpiece of the evening will be an on-track party where fans are invited to walk down on the speedway to check out the racecars and take photos with and get autographs from all the drivers in competition.
The Downs Ford Modifieds will lead the racing action in a 40-lap main event while the Snap-on Sportsman cars, the Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models, the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars, the Green Monster Insulation 4 Cylinder Stocks, the O’Shea’s Auto Repairs Factory Stocks and the ATQMRA TQ Midgets will all see action.
Tight point races in all stock car divisions are all up for grabs with the final night of regular season races then set for September 26.
With the “On-Track Party” up first, the evening will see grandstand seating opening at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying beginning at 5:30 p.m. and main event racing will follow.
Saturday will also be special as Wall Stadium joins Legend Cars driver Mitchell Dowd in a shoe drive to support the “In Ian’s Boots” charity. Both fans and competitors are asked to clean out their shoe rooms and closets of lightly worn or new shoes and boots of any kind including men’s, women’s and children’s. Sports shoes are also accepted. Shoes and boots will be collected in the pit area and the grandstand midway. More information on the charity and the distribution of these boots and shoes to the needy is available at iniansboots.org.
Weekly stock car racing and championship points awarding events will conclude on September 26. The “Spooky Spectacular” is then set for Saturday October 24 and the annual “Turkey Derby” will be presented on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
