RoC Modified Series 75 lapper re-scheduled for Saturday, May 21

Because of recent weather conditions, Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway has not been able to execute the needed capital improvements to their facility in a timely manner.

Therefore, the planned opening weekend of Test and Tune for the Drag teams scheduled for Saturday, April 16 and the Queen City Clash on Sunday, April 17 for the Stock Car teams are being postponed.

The Race of Champions Modified Series race scheduled for April 17 is now re-scheduled for Saturday, May 21 at the 5/8-mile oval. This will be the second race under the lights of the 2016 season.

All divisions previously scheduled for that night will remain on the program as the Modifieds will be added to the Sunoco Sportsman, Street Stocks, NYPA TQ Midgets and 4 Cylinders. This will make for an action-packed night of racing on May 21. The Ladies Night promotion featuring admission of $5 will be rescheduled for later in the year.

“With the way the weather has been the past two weeks, we have not had the break needed to get into the track and make the capital improvements properly,” said Tim Packman, Track President. “For the safety of the teams and fans, we have been forced to postpone our opening weekend activities. The weather looks to be turning towards our favor later this week to hopefully get started on the improvements, so that’s a good thing.

“We are not going to have a Test and Tune for the Drag teams or a race for the Stock Car teams just to have one. We need to get the track improvements done properly and not rush through them. I hate this more than anyone because there has been a lot of anticipation for racing activities at our track this year. We have to play the cards that Mother Nature deals us, but that just means we’ll be better prepared for when we do open.”

With the extra time, track management is looking to have a Tech Inspection for the Drag Teams and Safety Check for the Stock Car teams at the facility. Stay tuned for a future announcement for when that will take place.

Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway is now scheduled to open the 2016 season the weekend of April 23-24. The stock cars will kick off the year on Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m. with the Sunoco Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders. The Dragway opener is scheduled for Sunday, April 24 with a Test & Tune session and a Box/No-Box Shootout.
