A forecast for both cold and wet weather has forced Wall Stadium Speedway officials to cancel the season’s first practice session which was scheduled for Saturday (April 9). Although there will be no on-track action on Saturday the speedway office will be open from 9:00 a.m. until noon so that competitors can make arrangements for their 2016 registrations and competitor licenses.
With a large amount of cars registered for competition this season speedway officials have decided to offer two days of pre-season practice on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17. On both days the pit area will open at 9:00 a.m. with practice running from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. On Saturday the first hour of practice will be reserved for 2016 rookie drivers.
Racers will also be able to obtain their tires on both practice days including the Hoosier 850 tires that will be used by the Factory Stocks this season. Factory Stock racers are advised that they will have until June 11 to use up their supply of tires from last season if they choose.
Racecar technical inspections will also be conducted during both practice days and the speedway office will also be open during business hours during the week so that racers can complete their pre-season paperwork.
While the grandstands will be open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday there is a fee for competitors and crews.
The 2016 weekly Saturday night campaign gets the green flag on April 23 with the Downs Ford Modifieds, Snap-on Sportsman cars, Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars, Surf Side Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks, Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models, O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Three Quarter Midgets all in racing action. Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m., qualifying will start at 6:00 p.m. and main event action is slated for 7:00 p.m.
The complete regular season schedule, which runs on Saturday nights through the end of September, is available at wallspeedwayracing.com as are the rules and regulations for all divisions. Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” in October and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby,” are also being planned.
