Four of the six Wall Stadium Speedway 2015 stock car driving champions will defend their titles when the third mile high banked paved oval opens its 66th season this Saturday night (April 23). Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying slated for 6:00 p.m. and the first main event planned for 7:00 p.m.

The Downs Ford Modifieds are set for a 40-lap main event with defending titleholder Steven Reed of Jackson planning to go for his second straight speedway crown. Chas Okerson of Freehold, Eric Mauriello of Howell, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, brothers Zack and Trevor Alspach, both of Willingboro, and Holmdel’s Andrew Krause have all served notice they plan on improving on their 2015 point finishes. Also turning fast laps during last weekend’s practice were Brick’s Shawna Ingraham, Ken Matlach of New Hyde Park, NY, Toms River’s Derek Hopkinson and two returning veteran drivers Jimmy Blewett and Ken Woolley, Jr., both of Howell.

With 2015 champ Andrew Krause electing to concentrate on Modified racing this season Howell’s Kevin Davison is a favorite for a second crown in the Snap-on Tools Sportsman ranks. But top runners Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan, Robert Sutphin of Brick and Matt Langbein of Lanoka Harbor are just a few of the drivers planning to step up this season.

After winning his first speedway crown in 2015 Howell’s Robert French is looking to repeat in the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars. Last year’s O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock champion Joe Mongeau of Brick and 2015 Elite Maintenance Limited Late Model kingpin Anthony Crimaldi of Port Monmouth have also made it known that a repeat driving title is in their 2015 plans.

The second division that seems wide open at this point is the Surf Side Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks. While 2015 champ Ronnie Mullen of Brick will not concentrate on the class this year several returning veterans and a host of rookies invading the 4 Cylinder Stocks should make the title truly be up for grabs.

The ATQMRA Three Quarter Midgets will also compete in the opener on the inner oval making for a gigantic seven division card.

For Saturday’s season opener the speedway office will open at 9:00 a.m. so that competitors and crewmembers can obtain their licenses for the season and avoid afternoon lines. The pit area will open at noon for racecar technical inspections while practice sessions will begin at 2:00 P.M.

The complete regular season schedule, which runs on Saturday nights through the end of September, is available at wallspeedwayracing.com as are the rules and regulations for all divisions. Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” in October and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby,” are also being planned.

Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400 and email address is CKMotorsports@aol.com.
