The Downs Ford Modified stock cars return to action this Saturday night (May 28) at Wall Stadium Speedway with two 35-lap main events on “Proud to be American” night. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. with main events for all divisions to follow. For the Memorial Day weekend only, in the event of rain on Saturday a special Sunday afternoon (May 29) rain date is in effect with racing starting at 1:00 p.m.

On the third mile high banked paved oval speedway early season Modified winners Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Jimmy Blewett of Howell and Brick’s Ron Frees are sure to be favorites. Eric Mauriello and Justin Gumley, both of Howell, and defending champ Steven Reed of Jackson, former champ Chas Okerson of Freehold and Brick’s Shawna Ingraham will be among those looking to grab their first win of the year. Competition should be at an all-time high as the Modified division has experienced impressive fields during the early season.

The Snap On Sportsman racers will also be on the card in a 30-lap main event while the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks compete in a 25-lapper. The season’s first Demolition Derby will be the nightcap event on the evening.

As a part of “Proud to be American” night and the Memorial Day weekend observance all veterans presenting proper identification will be admitted free of charge to the grandstand area as the speedway thanks those individuals for their service to our country.

Pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 3:00 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying is then set for 5:45 p.m. Main events for all divisions to follow. In the event that the Sunday rain date is needed the pit area will open at 10:00 a.m., grandstand seating will open at noon with the first green flag waving at 1:00 p.m.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on Saturdays and Sundays through September with special post-season races in October and November. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
