This past Saturday at Monadnock Speedway was a scorcher, with the heat of the day came even hotter racing. They had four caution free features and the Granite State Prostock Series made their presence known with their 100 lap feature event.

The night started off with a caution free race by the Young Guns. Every week these young drivers show the crowd their potential and what the future of racing is all about. Alex Barden was the pole sitter for the event with Jaret Curtis on the outside. With the green flag flown Curtis got his chance to get into the lead before lap 1 was in the books. He would continue his lead right to the checkered, but not without Barden and Shelby Avery knocking on his door. Curtis held them off for the victory in the 15 lap event. Top five finishers were Jaret Curtis, Alex Barden, Shelby Avery, Devin Guy and Cale Skillings.

The Lightning Stocks would come out for their 25 lap feature event with Kris Kristolaitis on the pole and Dan Starkweather on the outside. Going into lap 1 Richard Whipple took over the second spot. Lap 2 Whipple moved his way into the lead and Pat Houle settled in right behind him in second. Whipple and Houle brought the racing excitement with their intense battle for the lead. On lap 7 Houle would claim the lead and Mike Stebbins would move on up to third. Some trouble began with two laps to go when Tim Leblanc and Whipple got tangled up and rubbed the back wall. No caution for this mishap and the drivers recovered. Stebbins picked up the second position and Leblanc fell in behind for third. The top five finishers were Pat Houle, Mike Stebbins, Tim Leblanc, Justin Littlewood, and Dan Starkweather.

The Mini Stocks made the third caution free feature of the night. Their 25 lap event started with Kevin McKnight on the pole and Matt Kimball on the outside. Lap 2 brought a lead change when McKnight got a bit loose and gave Kimball the opportunity to take over and rookie Alexander Pearl took over second. Points leader Solomon Brow made his move into third on lap 8. Jarrod Soucey caught up to Kimball and finally picked up the lead at the halfway point. Soucey would keep his lead until the checkered. The top five finishers were Jarrod Soucey, Scott Vien, Solomon Brow, Jason Kozacka and Alexander Pearl. In a post race inspection, Soucey was penalized to last place giving the win to Kimball.

The Thunder Stocks brought another fantastic caution free race with Michelle Leh on the pole and Paul Smith taking the outside. On lap 1 Smith took over the lead leaving Leh to fall back to third and Scott Vien taking the second position. Smith and Vien battle it out on lap 6 while Leh held that third position from Jason Kozacka. Going into lap 12 Richard Vincent made his move on Leh and took over third. Vien never stopped trying to take over the lead from Smith, but Smith wasn’t giving it up. The top five finishers were Paul Smith, Scott Vien, Richard Vincent, Jason Kozacka and James Nowakowski.

The track began to cool when the Super Stocks came out for their feature event. Tyler Lescord and Tyler Leary would lead the pack to the green. On lap 1 the first caution flag would fly for Allen Griffin giving Scott Beck Jr. a help around turn 4. Lap 2 caution 2 for James Beck going around in turns 1 and 2. Points leader, Dennis Stange, took over second with Chris Curtis right behind him for third on lap 6, out came caution three for Robert Hagar and Tyler Leary on turn 4. The race is restarted on lap 7 with Lescord getting loose and losing his lead position. Caution is flown for debris on the track. The restart puts Stange in the lead with Lescord right behind him. Lap 8 brought out the fifth caution, when Curtis got into the back bumper of Lescord leaving Hagar and Griffin to make a “Days of Thunder” move to avoid the mishap. The officials decided on a single file restart, Stange would lead the pack with Joel Monahan and Cole Littlewood right behind. Griffin got help from Lescord to perform a 360 on the back stretch. Griffin recovered and no caution was thrown. Cole Littlewood moved his way into the top 5 on lap 19 while Leary and Hagar settle in to positions 3 and 4 respectively. The top five finishers were Dennis Stange, Joel Monahan, Tyler Leary, Robert Hagar and Cole Littlewood.

The rumbling of the Sportsman Modifieds hit the track for a 30 lap feature. Brian Robie led them out with rookie Geoff Rollins by his side. On lap 1 the front runners moved around with Rollins taking the lead, Robie fell back to second and rookie Cameron Sontag moving up to third. The first caution was brought out on lap 5 for Kim Rivet taking a tour of the infield. Cars were shuffled around when the caution was brought out. Trevor Bleau made a brief trip to the pits which left Rollins still in the lead, Sontag moved into second and Tyler Jarvenpaa found his way into third. On lap 12 Bill Kimball moved into second and Sontag settled back in third. Keith Carzello found himself in fourth. Rivet moved back into the top five on lap 19. With much anticipation by the crowd the Granite State Prostocks made their way onto the track for the Rydemore.com 100. The cars are lead out onto the track by the Rydemore semi, with a honk of the horn the crowd cheers. Guy Caron was the pole sitter with Mike Mitchell on the outside. The green was flown and Mike Parks took a spin which brought out the yellow and a restart to the race. Lap 2 Corey Robert and Mike O’Sullivan switch positions for fourth and fifth. With a little bump Barry Gray takes over fifth from O’Sullivan on lap 9. He continued to try for fourth from Robert on lap 15 and just couldn’t do it. The leaders came upon lap traffic on lap 20 they made a clear pass and continued with Caron in the lead and Mitchell on his tail. Gray made his move on lap 26 to take over fourth and the O’Sullivan moved up to fifth. Mike Parks continued to work his way back up to the front and Shaw moved into second. Mitchell fell back on lap 35 giving Gray third and O’Sullivan fourth. Caron kept a comfortable lead while Shaw held off Gray for second. Going into lap 45 the front runners worked around lap traffic which brought the group closer together, taking away Caron’s comfortable lead. Lap 58 ended the battle for second when Gray took over from Shaw. Into the next lap Gray worked hard on Caron’s lead. Going into lap 62 Gray gave Caron a push while trying to take over his lead that brought out the caution and replay showed that Gray needed to restart from the rear. On the restart O’Sullivan will lead with Shaw and Parks right behind him. Parks made his way to the top three after a bad start at the beginning of the race. Going into lap 90 Gray got past Caron and gave Robert a push right into turns 1 and 2 causing another caution. Gray would find himself once again going to the back with 71. On the restart just when you would think things had cooled down Robert gave Gray a push back causing damage to both cars and another yellow flag. Robert and Gray headed for the pits under caution. On the restart Parks ran into trouble along with Caron and others. Caron had to get towed back to the pits. Lap 90 turned out to be the longest lap of the evening. Gray made his way back out for the restart of lap 90. With an uneventful last ten laps Mike O’Sullivan wins the Rydemore.com 100.
