While many special shows dot the calendar of events during the season at Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway, one particular night that stands out each year is Baltimore Life Insurance Fan Appreciation Night which takes place this coming Saturday, June 4 starting at 5:00 pm.
With grandstand admission at just $8 per person (no discounts), this has become one of the biggest nights that the paved ¼-mile oval hosts. Patrons are not only treated to an evening of great asphalt stock car racing but there are loads of giveaways and special prizes as well.
Bill Dorshimer of Baltimore Life Insurance will once again have his gang at the track for all types of kid related activities, promotions and prizes.
Mahoning does its best to keep intermission at a minimum, but this is one time that there is an exception to that rule and for good reason. During the break every driver and race car come onto the track for a meet and greet with fans. Thus the allotted extra time is needed especially when more than 100 cars are usually the norm for this night.
The race line-up will included Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s, Hobby Stocks and the visiting Micro Stocks.
To help with time constraints the start time has been moved up to 5:00 pm with grandstands now opening at 3:00 pm for this night only.
Early paid practice will held from noon – 3:00 pm. Regular warmups are from 3:30 - 4:30. Sign-ins will take place from 2:00 – 3:15.
With nearby Pocono Raceway hosting their NASCAR weekend, Mahoning Valley Speedway will also be honoring several NASCAR crew members with strong ties to track and will be named later this week.
Coming up on Saturday, June 11 will be all regular track classes plus a Small Car Enduro. The following Saturday, June 18, the Dirt Mods will run in a special 50-lap/$1200-to-win feature plus the debut of the Jr. Enduro Series sponsored by Ahner’s Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning of Palmerton takes place.
