When it comes to the 2016 racing season at Evergreen Raceway, Mother Nature hasn’t been much of a fan for racing at the 1/3-mile asphalt oval in St. Johns, PA. Prior to this weekend, three shows were cancelled due to the weather and another was shortened with rescheduled feature events. Unfortunately, this Sunday is no different and due to the gloomy weather forecast track officials are forced to cancel a regular event for the fourth time this season.
“We just can’t catch a break”, noted speedway Co-Promoter Jason Makarewicz.
“Even some of the shows that we did get in this year had questionable forecasts, which kept people away from visiting the track. We’ll get a good stretch of Sunday weather here soon, I just know it.”
The next event for Evergreen Raceway is slated for Sunday, June 12. The Evergreen Modifieds are on schedule along with the Late Models, Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders. An autograph & camera session is scheduled to take place at intermission for the Evergreen Modifieds, Late Models and Street Stocks. A 5/15 makeup feature for the Street Stocks is also on the card.
The 5/15 makeup Late Model feature that was rescheduled for 6/5 will be announced in the near future.
Grandstand admission is just $8. Children 10 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult. Veterans will be admitted into the grandstand area for free (must show valid ID).
The pit gate will swing open at 10:30 AM and the pit entrance fee is $30 with a pit license or $40 without. Practice will kick off at 12:30 PM and heat races will begin at 2 PM. The grandstand gates will open at 11:00 PM.
After Round #2 of the Tour Type Modified series was rained out a few weeks ago, drivers are excited about Round #3, which is just ahead, scheduled for Sunday, June 19. Also on the card are big wheel races for the kids, the Late Models, Street Stocks, Four Cylinders and the “Duct Tape 50” Factory Stock Memorial.
