+ Jr. Enduro makes debut this Saturday at Mahoning Valley Speedway

The Dirt Modifieds will be the center of focus this coming Saturday evening June 18 at Mahoning Valley Speedway with a special 50-lap/$1200-to-win feature.

Since becoming a weekly class in 2009, the Dirt Mods have grown to have a solid core of racers and their unique brand of slinging the car designed specifically for dirt around the circular paved ¼-mile makes for a very exciting show each time they take to the track.

Heading into the big race Aleia Geisler leads the points but is yet to win a race this season. Despite that the very talented Geisler, who drives the Riverside Excavating No. 44, should be well-prepared to claim the top prize. She is the only driver in class that has finished each feature in the top five.

The past two weeks defending class champion Ricky Yetter was in Victory Lane and has his always potent Gary Lee’s Brown/Daub KIA No. 5 run top notch. Billy Lasko, “The Bethlehem Bandit” is having a breakout season as the upstart recently notched his career first stock car victory and is a solid third in points and heads into Saturday as a pre-race favorite. Veteran Ray Deemer and his Warren Pallets No. 28w has been a key factor each week thus far. He won once and will be looking to make this the biggest victory yet of his career. Mike Stofflet, who is the only other driver along with Yetter to win twice, will be yet another who can cash in.

Aside from the Dirt Mods taking top billing, Mahoning Valley Speedway is proud to present the first ever Jr. Enduro sponsored by Ahner’s Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning of Palmerton.

The concept behind the Jr. Enduro is to give young racers coming out of such divisions as 1/4-midgets and karts, the opportunity to get a feel for driving a stock car without going through the weekly grind.

The cars will run under the same rules as the current Small Car Enduro class. Hobby Stock cars are allowable to compete. Racers must be between the ages of 12-18. A driver who has more than a year of racing experience in a stock car is not eligible. And, they do have the option to have a passenger seat and an experienced tutor ride along for guidance.

The Jr. Enduro feature will be run for a timed event. The price to enter is $40 per car (transponder included) and $25 per driver. The purse will be determined by the car count and adjusted accordingly. Rules can be found on the Mahoning Valley Speedway website at following the link:

Grandstands open at 4:00 pm and racing begins at 6:00. Warm-ups will get underway at 4:00. Pit gates will open at 11:30 am for early paid practice which gets underway at 12:30.
