Eddie Hawkins from nearby Marion, NY, finally broke into victory lane in the NASCAR Sunoco Modifieds at Spencer Speedway following a long run of winless races. He last won a Sunoco Modified main on August 15, 2014.
“I could feel the car getting tighter with each lap,” stated Hawkins. “I decided to just run this car for all she was worth.”
Mike Hyman , from Alton, NY, won his fifth Auto Value 4-Cylinder features on the year at Spencer. “If you take these five wins and add the three wins I have at Perry’s Wyoming County Speedway, we are having a pretty good year,” commented Hyman in victory lane.
Ashley Schoonmaker, from Ontario, took top honors in the Super Six division. For her it was her second feature win in a row at Spencer Speedway.
A special Meet and Greet the Drivers will be on tap on Friday, August 5. The last Meet and Greet was rained out back in May. The Sunoco Modifieds will be running a double point 35-lapper. Also on the race card will be the Super Sixes and the Auto Value 4-Cylinders. Only five weeks remain in the 2016 NASCAR season. This Friday’s races will start at 7 p.m. sharp.
Anyone who brings their ticket stub back the following week gets a $3 discount off an adult or senior ticket.
Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester, NY, along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson. Spencer Speedway is the local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for Central New York in 2016. Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national NASCAR Whelen All-American Points.
