As the summer weather heats up at the Jersey Shore so does the professional stock car racing action at Wall Stadium Speedway. This Saturday night the shore speedway presents the “Summer Scorcher” for the Downs Ford Modified stock cars, a 125-lap feature race that offers an astounding $5,000 to the winner!
Officials have announced that a rain postponed 25-lapper for the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks will be presented at 5:30 pm followed immediately by qualifying for the Modifieds, Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars, Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models and the Factory Stocks. Once qualifying is complete main event action will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m. The evening will also feature a Beach Luau theme in the grandstand midway to celebrate the summer season.
For this special event only a Sunday, August 7, rain date will be in effect. If needed features will start at 1:00 p.m. with gate opening time to be announced as needed.
This 125-lap “Summer Scorcher” format, offering $5,000 to the winner, is attracting the attention of several racers in the Modified division.
Series regulars expected to see action include top drivers Steven Reed of Jackson, Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Jimmy Blewett and Eric Mauriello, both of Howell, Shawna Ingraham and Ron Frees, both of Brick, and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River. Also among expected local entries are Adam LaCicero of Lavallette, 10-time track driving champ Chas Okerson of Freehold, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, brothers Trevor and Zack Alspach, both of Willingboro, and Jason Hearne of New Egypt.
The Modifieds are not the only racers in Saturday night’s spotlight. The Limited Late Models, Legend Cars and the Factory Stocks will all see action in regularly scheduled 25-lap main events.
Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. The rain postponed Factory Stock feature and qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. with regularly scheduled main events to follow.
