July and August has been somewhat of a struggle when it comes to getting the shows in at Evergreen Raceway. However, with September just around the corner and with fall-like weather approaching, the speedway is kicking off the month with “A September to Remember” Butch Barry Memorial event on Sunday, September 4. The Pro Stock division will be in action that day and the event, which is sponsored by the Barry family, will be in memory of long time Evergreen patron, Butch Barry. Also on the card for the Enduro portion of the program will be the 4-cylinder, 6/8-cylinder, Open Comp and Reverse Redneck Enduros.

Much like the previous Enduros this season, the 4-cylinder and 6/8-cylinders will take to the 1/3-mile asphalt oval for 100-laps of action and Open Competition cars will showcase their rides in a 30-lap showdown. The Pro Stock drivers will draw for heat race starting positions and their feature will be 35-laps. New for this year is the ‘Reverse Redneck Enduro’, where drivers will compete for five laps while driving around the speedway in the proper direction. Well, with the only exception being that the cars will be racing in reverse. Regular 4-cylinder and 6/8-cylinder Enduro cars will race in the same event and the fee to participate in this race is $10. The pay will be “winner take all”. The Reverse Redneck Enduros held so far this year were definitely entertaining. July race winner, Nate Correll hit nearly 50 MPH as an average lap speed, in reverse and Devin Gibson came close to that mark in the August event

It’s unlikely that it will happen for this memorial event, but if any divisions surpass 100 or more registrants, that division will have two separate 100-lap shows and the two winners will then compete for the overall victory and a $100 bonus in a 10-lap ‘Dash for Cash’ race.

The track is hosting a $10 discount for Enduro pre-registration. The form is on the speedway website and must be mailed in, along with the $40 pre-registration fee. Drivers will start straight up as they pre-register, or of course register at the track on race day for $50, and they will start behind the pre-registered drivers. The transponder rental fee is $10. Drivers racing in more than one division will be charged the $10 fee and $5 for each additional division for the rental fee. Pit admission is set at $25. There is no Pro Stock registration fee. The pit gates will swing open at 10:00 AM.

Drivers from the Street Stock division are invited to complete with the Pro Stocks, if they choose to do so. The Pro Stock held in the memory of Butch Barry is destined to be a barnburner. The late Butch Barry was the father of Pro Stock driver Blaine Barry. The Barry family history at the grounds dates back three generations, to Evergreen Park, which was in existence even before the construction of the racetrack itself.

The Open Comp and Pro Stock divisions will run their events prior to the start of the Enduros. The afternoon of events will kick off at 1 PM.

All of the rules, info and the pre-registered drivers are listed on the speedway website.

The grandstands are slated to open at 12 noon and grandstand admission is just $5. Children 10 years of age and younger will be admitted for FREE.
