In what seems to be an ongoing battle with Mother Nature, Evergreen Raceway officials have made the decision to cancel their event that was slated for Sunday, August 21. The show, which was supposed to highlight the Tour Type Modifieds, won’t be rescheduled due to the next Tour Type Modified being just a few weeks away. It’s slated for Sunday, September 11.
“I absolutely hate it for the racers and their fans”, noted track promoter, Jason Makarewicz.
“We kept a close eye on the forecast for the last three days and all its done was get worse. We also kicked around the idea of making up this special Modified show on the same day as our next Enduro. The idea was a great one, but unfortunately that won’t happen because of the Tour Modifieds being on the schedule for the week following the Enduro.”
He continued, “Thanks to Mother Nature, we definitely learned this year. I and a lot of others are just really looking forward the near perfect fall racing weather.”
With the slew of cancellations over the last month and a half, many of the track’s regular divisions have been on the sidelines. Many of them are excited to be back on the asphalt next Sunday, August 28, including the Evergreen Modifieds, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders. A Powder Puff race is also on the schedule for the Four Cylinder and Factory Stocks/Street Stocks.
Grandstand admission for the August 28 event is just $8. Children 10 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult.
The pit gate will swing open at 10:30 AM and the pit entrance fee is $30 with a pit license or $40 without. Practice will kick off at 12:30 PM and heat races will begin at 2 PM. The grandstand gates will open at noon.
