Ladies who follow the sport of short track stock car racing will be honored with discount admission this Saturday night (Sept. 17) at Wall Stadium Speedway. All ladies who sit in the grandstand area will be admitted for the discount price of just $10. Spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying slated for 5:45 p.m. Main event action will follow at around 7:00 p.m.
On the famous high banked third mile paved oval the Downs Ford Modifieds will be in the spotlight in a 40-lap main event as the race for the 2016 driving championship draws closer to a conclusion. Leading the way will be defending champion and current point leader Steven Reed of Jackson, but four time champ Chas Okerson of Freehold, two-time main event winner Andrew Krause of Holmdel, feature winner Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and main event winner Shawna Ingraham of Brick still have a shot at the crown. Other standouts including Brick’s Ron Frees and Eric Mauriello and Jimmy Blewett, both of Howell, are also expected to be in the field.
This will also be a big night for the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars as they prepare for two 25-lap points awarding main events. Louie Keraitis of Toms River is the current point leader, but Malcolm Campbell of Eatontown, Vinny Troia of Browns Mills, Brick’s Chris Gall and Nick Van Wickle of Edgewater Park are well within striking distance.
In addition, the Snap On Sportsman cars will battle in a 30-lapper and the Elite Maintenance Limited Models and the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks will compete in 25-lappers on the third mile paved oval while the Three Quarter Midgets and the Sunday Series Champ Karts will race on the fifth mile “inner oval.”
Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying will then begin at 5:45 p.m. and feature race action for all divisions is slated for 7:00 p.m.
The complete updated regular season schedule, which runs on Saturday nights through October 1 when champions will be crowned, is available at wallspeedwayracing.com as are the rules and regulations for all divisions. Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” on October 15 and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby” are also being planned.
