Mahoning Valley Speedway returns to action with all regular track classes + Small Car Enduro this coming Saturday

After having this past weekend off for the 66th Annual Race of Champions weekend, race teams from all six classes at Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway will be back in action this upcoming Saturday evening, September 17 as well as a Small Car Enduro. Racing begins at 6:00 pm.

Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks are on the docket. This coming Saturday also marks the next to last regular season point races and with that there are a total of 28 drivers combined across the six divisions that are still vying for respective championships.

Following the night’s feature events a Small Car Enduro will take place and this too carries a fair among of significance as it will be the prelude to the big October 8 event that stands to be the richest paying Enduro in track history. If 80 or more car are signed in on race day the top prize will be a record $2000-to-win.

However, if 70 cars are present then the first place earnings will be $1500, also a record amount. That same payout will also be offered to the winner of the Jr. Enduro race which runs that same day.

It is highly encouraged for everyone to pre-enter and save $10 on registration. If anyone does pre-register the cost is $40 up until October 1. Starting line-ups will be determined by registration. There will be a limit of 100 cars. October 8 Enduro entry forms are available on the Mahoning Valley Speedway website.

Also on October 8 there will be a Big Car Enduro provided 15 or more entries are pre-registered. A Small Car and Big Car Demo Derby will kick-off the day which begins at 4:00 pm.

The final day of points will be Saturday, October 1 which will be headlined by twin-50 lap Modified features paying $1800 to win each plus award separate title points per race.

The Late Models will be running in a commemorative race in honor of the late Jennifer Kutz Flanagan. The distance is 42 laps, with that number as a tribute to the signature Team Kutz Racing number. The Kutz/Flanagan families are currently collecting lap sponsorship money for that special feature.

Mahoning Valley Speedway will close out the season with Octoberfast 2016 on the 22nd. Once again the marquee event on the track’s calendar is ready to go out just as big as the year began by hosting the Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Modified Series Fueled by Sunoco tour which will again pit the stars of the popular pavement RoC against the very finest of the home track Mahoning standouts. The race will be a distance of 150 laps and pay $5000 to win.

Fans should be in for a great showing of Modifieds too as not only does this race annually draw a great field, but the Mahoning race will play a pivotal role with the RoC Tour as well thanks to the rescheduling of this past weekend’s Race of Champions 250. Mahoning is now the next to last stop for the RoC racers and points will be at a premium for the Tour regulars who will need precious markers heading into their finale following their stop in Lehighton.

Octoberfast 2016 will also feature the Late Models in a 60-lap/$1500 to win main. Street Stocks will go 75 laps and receive $1500 to win plus it is the deciding show for the overall winner of the American Rental Street Stock Gamblers Series. Hobby Stocks will head out in a 40 lap/$400-to-win feature. The All Star Slingshots are also on the card.

All aforementioned scheduled events are subject to change.
