Chris Vogler Wins Sandra Vogler Memorial NYSS 51;
Daniel Majchrzak and Maddy Virts Crowned Track Champions



Lancaster, NY driver Shawn Nye was standing in victory lane after winning the SST Modified 100 as part of the Shootout at the Bullring at Wyoming County International Speedway on Saturday evening. With the victory, Nye can now be locked into the starting lineup for the American 100 for Tour-Type Modifieds. Second generation driver Daniel Majchrzak from Perry, NY was crowned the 2016 SST Modified Champion. Chris Vogler from Geneva, NY was victorious in the Sandra Vogler Memorial 51 for the New York Super Stock Series (NYSS). Jacob Gustafson won the 4 Cylinder main event with Maddy Virts from Fairport, NY crowned track champion.

Patti Pruitt and Daniel Majchrzak brought the field of SST Modifieds to the green flag for their 100 lap season finale with Pruitt jumping into the lead. Joe Evans would go underneath Majchrzak to take second away on lap three. Pruitt, Evans, Majchrzak took off in the top three with Connor Sellars, Tony Hanbury, Shawn Nye battled inside the top six. The caution will fly for Nick Morich who spun on the front straightaway on lap 17. Majchrzak went to the pits after getting a new air cleaner. Evans would take the lead off the restart as Tony Hanbury battled Pruitt for second place. The leaders would encounter lap traffic by the races ¼ mark as Evans, Pruitt and Hanbury pulled away from Sellars and Wayne Baker. While racing in lap traffic, Pruitt and Beth Dennie came together in turn four with Sellars and Baker also getting together. Running in the top ten at the halfway mark was Evans, Hanbury, Shawn Nye, Knapp, Ayers, Lewis, Rutherford, and Lippa.

After a caution on lap 52, Evans would jump back out front over Hanbury and Nye Hanbury would take the lead on lap 61 with Evans and Nye challenging for the lead. Hanbury would continue to show the way over Evans and Nye in the late going as Ricky Knapp and Cam Ayers ran inside the top five. On lap 74, Evans hit the back straightaway wall hard and also involved Wayne Baker, Ricky Knapp, Nick Morich, Bill Kosachook and Bobby Lippa Jr. Hanbury would go to the pits, giving the lead to Shawn Nye. Nye would take the lead on the restart as Daniel Majchrzak worked his way back through the field to take over third from Lewis. Patti Pruitt would take fourth away from Timmy Lewis on lap 76 on her quest back towards the front of the field. Connor Sellars spun exiting turn four on lap 78 to bring out the caution. Nye and Ayers went side by side off the restart green as Majchrzak went right after the leaders as the lead trio pulled away from Pruitt, Baker and Hanbury. Nye would lead the final 22 laps to earn his first SST victory at the Bullring. Cam Ayers would have a career run finishing in second with Majchrzak, Pruitt and Wayne Baker completing the top five.

Joe Horvatits and Jason Dinzler shared the front row for the Sandra Vogler Memorial for the New York Super Stock Series (NYSS) with Dinzler leading the way. Nick Robinson passed Horvatits to take second early on. Robinson would take the lead away from Dinzler off an early race restart. The red flag came out on lap eight after a multi-car wreck in turn two that included Joel Gleason and Gary Noe. All drivers involved climbed out of their racers under their own power. Back on the restart, Robinson continued to show the way. Joe Horvatits spun in turn four to bring out the caution on lap 10. On the restart, Robinson continued to show the way as Chris Vogler passed Dinzler to take over second. Robinson got spun on the back straightaway to bring out the caution. Dave Wilson would challenge new leader Vogler out front but Vogler was able to hold off Wilson’s advances. Early leader Dinzler would have rear end issues and take the car to the pits near the halfway mark. Wilson challenged Eric Hadley for second as Vogler continued to show the way around the Blacktop Bullring. Hadley would catch the leader at the cross flags Bill Frisbee Jr came up through the last chance qualifier to come up to fifth place on lap 33. Vogler, Hadley, Wilson, Mitchell Wright and Bill Frisbee Jr raced inside the top five with ten laps remaining. Charlie Sharpsteen passed Frisbee and Wright to move into the top four with five laps remaining. Vogler would go on to score the emotional victory in the race, named after his late mother Sandra who passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer in 2005.

The 4 Cylinders took to the racey 1/3rd mile oval for their 40 lap season championship event that saw JP Harbst and Jams Bardo on the front row with Harbst showing the way early. Jacob Gustafson went three wide with the lead duo and would take the lead at the end of the first scored lap. Nick Robinson, David Brunka and Tom Lalomia Jr raced into the top five early on. Bardo hit the back stretch wall on lap two and several cars got involved. Bardo would pull into the pits under his own power. Robinson would catch Gustafson off the restart and would take over the lead on lap five with Lalomia taking second away. Lalomia and Gustafson would battle for several circuits Robinson would continue to show the way at the halfway point as Lalomia and Gustafson continued their battle for second with Jennifer Dennie and Maddy Virts running in the top five. The leaders encountered lap traffic in the late going as Robinson continued to show the way around the Bullring. JP Harbst spun in turn four to bring out the caution on lap 35. Robinson had a flat right front and went to the pits. Gustafson and Lalomia led the field back to the green flag with Gustafson showing the way.

Sunday at the Bullring will be day two of the Shootout at the Bullring, featuring the American 100 for Modifieds, paying $10,000 to the winner. The WCIS Super Stocks will be running their championship event plus the INEX Legends will be in competition. The Vintage Late Models will be running an exhibition event. Pit gates will open at 8:00am with grandstands opening at 10:00am with racing getting underway at 1:00pm.
