Although there hasn’t been a full “off season” at Evergreen Raceway, it’s been months since the Tour Type Modifieds shook the stands at the 1/3-mile asphalt oval. That will all change in less than a month, as the first of six American Rental Equipment Modified Series events are scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 21.
Many teams are excited about making their first Evergreen start of 2017, which will pay $2,000 and $175 to start, if 16 or more cars take the green flag. A wide variety of hot shoes from the tri-state area are expected to compete and the action in the Modified events at Evergreen is always intense. There’s no doubt that the 50-lap show will be a barnburner.
The 2017 Evergreen Raceway Tire Rules will apply for this event. Those rules are posted on the speedway website under the rules link on the left hand side of the site. Tires are available at the track and can be purchased by cash, check or credit card (3% fee processing fee applies).
Drivers will pull pills for starting positions in a 10-lap heat race. The top six qualifiers will redraw for starting positions on the front stretch at intermission and the remainder of the field will start straight up in the 50-lap main event. The top 15 drivers will qualify for the 50-lap main event through heat races and a consi will be held to determine the remaining five positions. A maximum of 20 cars will start the feature.
The Modified payout is listed on the left hand side of the speedway website.
The Barbush Automotive Street Stocks will hit the track for the first time this season and the Evan’s Roadhouse Four Cylinders will compete for 40 laps and the $450 to win prize money.
Grandstand admission for the May 21 event is just $15. Children 12 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult.
The pit gate will swing open at 10:30 AM and the pit entrance fee is $35. Practice will kick off at 12:30 PM and heat races will begin at 2 PM. The grandstand gates will open at 11:00 PM.
