Six feature races will be on tap, country music will play over the public address system, BBQ foods will be offered and veterans with proper identification will be admitted free of charge this Saturday (May 7) night as Wall Stadium Speedway presents “Memorial Day Weekend BBQ and Country Music Night.” Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. with main events for all divisions to follow.

On the third mile paved oval the Freehold Ford Modifieds will lead the way in a 40-lap main event and the Snap-On Sportsman cars are set for a 25-lapper. Both the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars and the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks will see double duty competing in two 25-lap main events each.

On the third mile high banked paved oval speedway early season Freehold Ford Modified three-time winner Jimmy Blewett of Howell will try to win his fourth straight main event. Standouts Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Shanon Mongeau of Manchester, Brick’s Ron Frees, defending champ Steven Reed of Jackson, former champ Chas Okerson of Freehold and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River will be among those looking to grab their first win of the year.

As a part of the Memorial Day weekend observance all veterans presenting proper identification will be admitted free of charge to the grandstand area as the speedway thanks those individuals for their service to our country.

Celebrating the holiday weekend with the “Memorial Day Weekend BBQ” theme, the speedway refreshment stands will offer homemade beef brisket sandwiches with baked beans and coleslaw, the “Joey Helberg Special,” in honor of the two-time Factory Stock winner, and $1 hot dogs.

Pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 3:00 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying is then set for 5:45 p.m. Main events for all divisions to follow.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on Saturdays and Sundays through September with special post-season races in October and November. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
