Persistent showers forced Chemung Speedrome management to pull the plug on the Saturday program early in the day, saving travelers from unnecessary travel to the track.
Race teams and fans are reminded that there will be no racing at the track this Saturday, July 8th.
But, we will roar back into action next Saturday (July 15th) with a night of special tributes to Ed McGuire. A longtime racer and car owner, Ed has been a fixture in the twin tiers of northern PA and southern NY. The 'Tribute to Ed McGuire' will include a 51-lap feature for the headline Sunoco Modifieds, paying $1,500 to win. Ed sported the number 51 on his many cars over the years. Many special bonuses and awards will be presented on this night when the Speerome gives Ed a 'thank you' for all he has done and meant to countless racers. The track's other regular divisions (Super Stocks, 4 Cylinders, INEX Legends, and the Bowen Racecars Bandoleros) will all be in action. Pits open at 4, Grandstand gate opens and practice begins at 5, and the first heat race hits the track at 6 PM. Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors ages 65+, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and free for kids ages 5 and under.
