The 2005 Mod rules for all points events allowed the use of radio communication between the crew and driver IF THE SPOTTERS MONITOR THE SCANNER CHANNEL to redirect the track information.
We have been having much trouble with cars not lining up where they are supposed to after many calls from the transponder operator to the spotters. If you are not monitoring the scanner channel, the driver must have a scanner. In the future it was suggested that if we tell the car to move up to where he is supposed to and after two tries he does not, we will just go green.
A safety factor comes into play also. If we see something happening to the car that may endanger him or others and the spotter does not relay the message to the driver quickly, it can be disasterous.
Please have your spotters monitor the track scanner freq. at all times during the race.
