That's kind of strange. The last thing I read about that track was that the golf course could not be built and that the track surface was still intacked but covered up with sand in places to prevent anybody from running on it.
Can anyone confirm that?

I Drive Buy It Almost Every Day, You Can Still See Some Asphalt Between Turns 1 And 2 , But You Can Also See Where They Started To Put Some Sand Traps And Bunkers. There Is Some New Pavement Coming Out Of One Of The Service Entrances, So There Has Been Some Work Recently.

In the FAQ section it states the golf course still isn't a done deal. As for racing again, well that depends on the interpretation of recreation within the historic registery rules. Seems that like everthing else here on the Isle of Long, there are rules being sidestepped and ignored. Enough so the surrounding land owners want to seceed from the local township! That whole site is a pretty good read.

The Golf course at Bridgehampton has been up and running for at least 3 years. Our Chief chef is a caddy there and one of the guys on our team has played there. It is called, appropriately, "The Bridge". I worked at the track around 1973-74 and one of my best friend's father was the property manager all through the 60's and early 70's..I never saw him there but word had it that King Richard could sure throw the car around those turns. Trans Am racing was perfect for that track. When NASCAR came to town, Noyac road was two lanes in before the race and 2 lanes out after the race. Too bad it's all gone now. Oh yeah, The motorcycle racing proved that those guys were absolutely NUTS!

Very cool shot of the track and the Richard Petty Plymouth, Pete. I almost went to that race but was young and foolish and missed it.
