The nicknames post was a good idea, how about giving a little story on how the nicknames started.

Well, I'm not totally sure if this is correct, but I think "Jumping' Johnny Kraft was called that after a wreck he had with Whitey Voelker at Islip. Whitey unbuckled and ran over to the driver's window to offer John a beer. John was so small that he jumped out of the rear window, jumped onto the track and jump over the wall.

The announcer said, there goes Jumping Johnny Kraft.

Hey, you can't make this stuff up.

Mine came from the old cartoon show "Wackey Racers". Remember Dick Dastardly and Muttley?

Charlie J. - 'Bunny': supposedly given to CJ by his grandmother, because of the way he scooted around as a child.
'Gentleman' Jim Hedrickson: self explanatory, the man was always a gentleman.
'Rapid Roman' Richie Evans- was from Rome NY, hence the nickname.

I'll leave it here at this point to let others add a few more. :)
