I'm just curious as to how many of the trux that ran April 1st were four cylinders? It was just tough running a 4 cylinder against "stock" v6 trucks, especially ones that ran lap times equal to v8 cars. I wondered how many others were in the same boat as me.

I don't think there are many people still running 4 cyl's. I started out with a 4 cyl., and like you, it was evident that a 4.3 is the way to go. There's a few Riverhead guys that are really competitive with a 4 cyl., but that's only if you have a stick in it. With a stick in it, you can redline the hell out of it.

Where can the lap times be found ? How do you know we were running 8cyl times? Are the lap times posted?

Please remember, there was the problem with the loop & the transponders didn't work = no lap times.

No, the transponder system wasn't working. That was just observation of my veteran crew members.

Going by the last November race, TRUX lap times are about low to mid 19s to over 22 seconds compared to some 17s in the 4cyl and big car classes. It sounds close but nowhere near in speeds. Most of the TRUX are in the 20 second range. In my opinion, if there is a truck out there doing 17s...it's not by the rules.
The #27 truck tested at practice day and was in the mid 19s. He was one of the top 3 fastest on the track in the April 1st event. The truck was bought a month ago at an dealer auction...w/ 75,000 miles, everything stock. All he did was adjust (within the rules) some suspension angles....nothing bought new or changed. All original equipment. It just goes to show how important handling is.

is it fair to say that the rules will not be revised untill next year and that the rules that are posted now will be used all year without change? :applause:

Sorry Billy, I didn't mean to intimate that the fast guys were cheating. The only thing I could see that was against the rules was many of the trucks had mirrors in.

when we started this division last year, the cardinal rule was that the rules from riverhead would apply out at neets. mirrors are alowd at riverhead. so they should be alowd for the trux.

I'm sorry, I wasn't privy to that information. I can only go by what is posted as the rules on the website.

Hey,,,yes the 27 truck was fast billy....was that the blue stepside driven by Gary? If it was, he informed a few of us he had Practice on the track, that is also why his truck could handle....

I was walking around the pits race day, and had the pleasure of meeting the #27. Yes, Gary and his team are a nice bunch of guys. They did a real nice job on that truck. Nice roll cage.
