Not sure how many folks remember Doug from the Evergreen days, but if you have ever had the opportunity to meet him, you would never forget him, guaranteed! Our thoughts and prayers go out to RoseAnn and the entire Buchanan family.

Douglas S. Buchanan, 64, of Blue Ridge Trail, Wapwallopen, entered into eternal rest Saturday at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

After retiring from 30 years of employment at IBM, Mr, Buchanan worked in information technologies at J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills, Tamaqua. He was a member of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top.

Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, RoseAnn Guarnieri Buchanan; daughter, Karen Giberson and her husband, Ken, Glen Mills; sons, Kirk Buchanan and his wife, Dale Ann, Nanticoke; Ryan Buchanan, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Katie, Luken, Kyle, Kahli and Natalie; sisters-in-law, Diana Luff, Newton; Joan Guarnieri, Walton, N.Y.; nephews, Dennis and Kevin.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 from Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., state Route 309, Mountain Top, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top. Just wanted to add more, but personally it was Doug who really got me into racing…I mean out of the stands. We spent many long nights in the garage & shared many “pep talks”. Being at the Buchanan’s felt just like being at home.
