since i wrecked my 4 cyl car and will roll it sunday, i found an 88 caprice wagon with a 307 im going to buy. im just wondering if anyone has had any luck running a wagon or seen any do any good since i figure the would weigh more than a standard caprice (or car of equivalent size).

I have no experience with wagons and cannot imagine there being any advantage to running one that would overcome the additional weight. Is that an Oldsmobile 307 in there? I seem to recall they weren't really strong runners. Either way, if you already have it, gut it, prep it and go have fun.

The big thing I don't like about wagons is the gas tank is in the left rear quarter panel, very easily damaged, also not easily relocated.

Then there is that tendency they have to fold downwards after a couple of good hits, which of course depends on how well the frame over the rear was made in the first place. <:)>

I ran an 86 buick wagon with a 307 and posi rear. It surprisingly handled very well, but was a little underpowered. I finished 8th with no major damage.

Hey DW1, if you check out the photo's from the 5/7/06 enduro, there's some nice pictures of a wagon, numbered 12 in the first race, then 22 in the second. This guy has done pretty well with his car and it's fast, of course he does his homework on it, as you can tell by how low it sits coming out of turn two. He'll be there this week, so go talk to him about it, and while you're there, ask him why he doesn't paint that ugly thing??

yea its a 307 olds in there. the 307 has a little more horsepower than the 305, but less torque. ive seen 307 delta 88s do fairly well. thanks for the help... itll be out in july.

i ran a 79 malibu wagon many years back (1989? something like that); it had the little v8 (267?) and honestly it was the best enduro car i ever ran. it was a rocket and it went through the turns quite well. i got about 7 races out of it before i let my friend race it when i got my dodge interceptor.
