Sadly ironic, considering ISC would pay for the whole project, while the Yankees and Mets (and Nets) get all sorts of government funding and tax breaks, all of which makes the cost fall on all taxpayers, even those who aren't fans of those teams, or even the sport itself.
Let's not let happen in Suffolk what apparently is happening in Staten Island. Get behind the building of a sports and entertainment facility by letting your elected officials know that it is what YOU want. They listen to things like that.
Worst place for a track and traffic, plus do you really think that New Yorkers could pack that place, no way! They say they will fight it, but really who's going to spend the money? I have talked to people at races at Charlotte, Bristol and Dover, and not one would attend with the limits they are placing on it [ex: no camping for one].
