I think this would be a good idea at Riverhead for a Saturday night show. Other tracks are doing it. I think we would get a good turn out.
Let's get the women involved.

Why can't the girls get their own cars (like some do) and race against the guys.

I know about Mountain, I'm trying to get there for that one, but Riverhead should do one. Yes, the girls can race against the guys, but the whole point is doing something different.

Some girls*aka women* don't want to run 100 laps or be in the "crashfest" that sometimes happens. The point (at least for those who go to Mountain, I think) is to allow the women who go to the track, pay the fees, register the cars, stand on line for transponders (@mountain), get babysitters, board dogs, pack for the family, bring food, pack the coolers, wash firesuits and so on to be able to have a little fun without all the work of building a car. I don't mean to sound nasty, but that is part of the charm of the people in PA. They like to make it a family thing. I don't know if Riverhead is going to go for it. JMO

It's worth a shot. It's not 100 laps the women have to run, 50 and 50 for the guys. Why should only the guys be able to race? I just think it would be fun, that's all. We aren't running a championship here. I think it would draw a crowd for the night, too.

Actually a few years ago we did have a women's enduro. It only lasted a couple of races and then they cancelled it. I believe Tommy Walkowiak's wife was in it. Not sure what happened but it didn't last very long.

Riverhead did have a "ladies" enduro a few years back. Rich and I worked hard to get it started. We were told that if we could get a good car count they would consider it. The first race over 30 drivers showed up. The thoughts on this "division" was to have the "ladies" have about 3 races that year. Well it went over so well the first time out that they put us on the schedule for the next few races....Unfortunately, they cancelled the "ladies" only races...you'd have to ask the OLD track management WHY...I know that some tempers flaired up after a few races...Maybe, "cat fights" were not what the track was looking for. Maybe we can get together again and see if they - Riverhead - would consider giving the Ladies another try.

Why should only the guys be able to race?
It's not only the guys are able to race, anyone male or female is able to race in any division. They just need to put the time in to get a car set up. I know for a fact a few ladies race in enduros.

SO GO GET A CAR

The NEETS division have a total of 10 girls that run the small and big cars. and half are in the 30 in points. Denise Segiel is in the top 7 or 8 in the 4cyl division, driving an Escort!!!!!

Woot; If my old brain is working right, I think she had a 4th and 11th place finish this year. Thanks to her brother.

I just wanted Riverhead to do a show, guy-gal, like the one they have at Mountain on the 30th, for next years schedule. I think it would be a good time. Something different than a regular enduro. That's what I was trying to say in the first post I wrote. A guy and a girl working together to finish a 100 lap. Switch teammates (drivers) at the 50 lap mark.

Leah, that does sound like something fun to watch. And I remember the enduro with Tommy's wife. If I remember right, it was her and someone else running side by side for laps, and one of them went up on top of the wall with the right side of the car through the middle of one and two, then came down and continued on. I have video of that somewhere.

It is a good idea, Leah. It's done on the NEETS tour as the 'Fem-Duro' in the exact format that you've suggested. I think Riverhead might want to at least try one during one of the Sunday shows next year, maybe 20F/20M laps to start, just to see how it goes. I guess it would be up to the interested enduro drivers to push the idea with the track officials.

I'd like to bring this up to Bill, so anyone interested please email me at leah28pkr@yahoo.com, so I could tell or show him that people are interested in doing a guy/girl show at Riverhead.

Rick, that was, in fact, Tommy's wife who went up on the wall...hence her nickname "Wild Wife."

Hey Leah, I would be interested in the guy/gal enduro. I ran in the ladies enduro and I like it better than running in a mixed enduro, because the guys don't want to be beat by a girl, so they will do anything they can to knock them out. At Mountain I think that the gals drive the first half of the race and the guys the last half of the race, I would like to see it the other way around where the guys drive first, and the gals drive last. I bet the Wild Child and Wild Wife would want to do it to. Laura and Jim White, You and Nick? So start doing what you have to do to get this on the schedule for next year that comes out in November. If you need any help, you know how to get in touch with me. Cindy would be willing to help out, also.
