Nascar or Not?

In the past, the Championship Races held on the last night have not been Nascar sanctioned. Does anyone know if that is the same this year? If it is, does this mean all drivers with the point lead as of last Saturday are Nascar Champions and we could have different track champions, since these races have now been changed to point races.

That's doubtful, since, as stated in another thread here, the NASCAR 'season' runs from Jan. 1, 2006, through Sept. 17, 2006, and Saturday's race date is Sept 16, 2006. I would take that to mean all races run on that date, which are NASCAR sanctioned, will count towards final point standings. Since no announcement to the contrary was made in all the 'point race' talk on the PA this past Saturday, it's safe to think all races this week will help dtermine the 2006 champions in each division. :)

I called the Race track office today and was told a Nascar license is not needed to get in the pits on Saturday. Sounds to me that it is not a Nascar sanctioned event. If it is not Nascar sanctioned then I would think Nascar points cannot be awarded for the night. Why would the track want to have different point standings than Nascar?

Chargers, Late Models and Figure 8 get point fund checks from Nascar and the racetrack.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Figure 8's get their funds from the track and S.A.F.E.R., but none from NASCAR.

The point fund check I received two years ago was direct from nascar.

Okay, just dug out my receipt, it came from the Awards and Achievement Bureau, Daytona Beach, and called the Statement of championship Point Money. I was 13th in points and received $53.70 Now if I remember right the track point fund only pays back to 10th, I'm not positive. I know I didn't get anything from the track for 13th.
