First, Congrats to J-Rod. You drove a nice race and after hearing of your tire ordeal, it was like a fairy tale story with a great ending. Give all your crew and friends a pat on the back for getting you to the track
I thought the first NELMA event went great having the feeling all the drivers present were trying very hard to make it a success and looking forward to 2007.
J.A. was like a proud mother in the tower with me. I think he also deserves a big pat on the back for the effort he made putting this together for the LM drivers.
And again, it was nice to see my old buddy W.J. at the track. Hmmmm, let's see "J.A."/"W.J".....I think I'll start calling myself "B.B."
I'm standing next to Freddie Kraft with one lap to go waiting for the race to end, to turn to him and say: "Man, without all theses late cautions, J-rod would have had enough momentum to catch the the two leaders." The leader of the race Larry Fisher was very inconsistent in his restarts through out the day, in fact one starts caused a pile up before the drop of the flag. It seemed to really kill J-rod's march to the front. As I was ready to tell Freddie this, next thing I see the incident headed into turn one and J-rod gains the lead with a lap to go! What a suprise because he was the fastest car at the end of the race and worked his way back up as the car came to him and he didn't over drive it!
Besides the restarts that I thought was bad, Fisher also caused the first lap accident as he dive bombed his car into turn 3 and into Metzger, Richard Petey got the worst end of the deal. Also when Coll was leading coming off turn 4, he was pushed up against the wall and had to back off the pedal. It totally killed his day, Fisher had the fastest car at the time and would have had Coll in another lap of side by side racing. Weather it was a slip up or not, he did have the faster car.
Long Island did us proud this day, Congrats to J-rod bro!
Congrats from NC. J-Rod couldn't have happen to a more deserving team. Hope this will jump start your 2007 season in a big way. I'm sure Freddie was in your ear the whole time great job FK.
