I mentioned in the Figure Eight thread that the division started full time in 1963. Prior to that the Novice class was the second division at Islip. Who was the last Novice champion at Islip Speedway? He also was the NASCAR New York State Novice champion that year (1962).

In 1962 Bob Holmberg was both the Islip Speedway and NASCAR New York State Novice champion. He drove the blue and white #71 '37 Ford flatback sedan owned by Johnny Mueller.
