How about Jim Malone Sr. leading, Jack Reinhart 2nd, Don Howe 3rd. Jack dumps Jim. Don Dumps Jack, because you don't do that to Don's team mate. Don goes on to win the race.
Not quite, Richie! Actually, Howe was leading (barely - they had just started) when on the second lap a melee broke out on the backstretch involving the cars from second on back. All eventually got straightened out but by this time Howe had a half lap lead and the yellow was never thrown! As luck would have it the race went nonstop to the finish with Howe still a half lap ahead. Ruined what could have been a barnburner of a race. I never have heard Chum complain about it though!
Don's first Riverhead Modified win came in 1973 according to the win list.
