    L. I. Championship Race

In the 60's Riverhead would run a modified feature at the end of the season called the Long Island Championship Race. It would be a 35 lapper and would be run when Islip had no modified racing. Who won this event in 1964? It would be the last win of this drivers illustrious L.I. career.

Not Uncle Axel. He won at Islip in 1965 in his orange '37 Ford Flatback sedan.

Jim Malone continued to race and win up to his devastating crash at Langhorne in 1971. I will give you a hint. The winning car # in that L.I. championship race was 55.

Tommy Washburn was the winner of the '64 L.I. championship race at Riverhead. Tommy was a former Riverhead champion from the early 50's.

Did both Billy and Mousey win at all at Islip in the early 70's?

I'm just guessing here but I believe Billy Spade won at Islip in 1971. Mousey's last win was in the 60's.

I saw something one here that had Mousey last win 1964, could have been just a Riverhead list for all time winners.

In all likelihood that was a Riverhead win list. Mousey didn't run Riverhead after about '64 to '65. He won at Islip as late as, I believe, '68 or '69.

I checked back as best as I could. I found Mousey finishing second to Jimmy Hendrickson in a 100 lap feature at Islip on August 8 1970. I couldn't find any wins for him though.
