    1963 Track Record

Entering the 1963 season at Islip Jim Hendrickson held the one lap track record at the track with a 13.85. The record was broken first at the June 100 lap event and then again at the August Glenn Ford Memorial 100. Who held the record after the Glenn Ford race and what was the time?

...In 1963 CJ had yet to turn a lap at Islip. As a hint both times the record was broken in '63 it was by an out of state driver.

Not McTavish. IIRC McTavish didn't come to Islip with the Circle J car until 1966. He won a feature at Islip with that car and I have an 8 X 10 B&W with his autograph on the back of that night.

Charland was the first to break the record. At the June 100 lapper he ran a 13.67 to establish a new record. Who broke that record at the Glenn Ford race and therefore held the record at the end of 1963?

Last hint. The guy was from NJ and only ran at Islip a few times in his career. I'll be back on late this afternoon with the answer if no one gets it.

Dwight, Is there any chance of posting that picture of the Circle J?
That was an awesome car in it's day.

No, it wasn't Hearne and I would have given anything to see Tasnady at Islip. It was Bob Rossell who broke the record turning a lap at 13.51 in his '36 Chevy coach. 310Fig8 - I don't know how to post pictures but I will find someone who does and post it for you.
