Got any photos of the Freeport Speedway flagmen with their checkered flags???

I loved photos of the Freeport Speedway checkered flags and their racing history!!!

Know of any Freeport Speedway flagmen knock out of the starter's stand by an race car during an race???

Myke Collins was the long time starter at Freeport. He started in the late 1940's and flagged well into the 1960's.

There was one starter that when the leaders were lapping slower cars and not getting out of the way fast enough to his liking he would hit the car on the roof with the move over flag as the car went by under the flagstand.

I seem to remember him even throwing the flag at the car a couple times, lol. And how about how Myke Collins would start all the races from the infield then run across the track after the last car passed and climb up a little ladder which he pulled up behind him with a rope.

#1 and #3 are Frank Cillemi at Freeport in mid to late 60's. # 2, I'm at a loss. In picture #1, he's throwing the green flag. He did this untill insurance regulations forced him to the flagstand. Thats all I know. Hope it helps.
