    Thompson

My computer has been down, and I'm not sure if this is news or not, but I see that the June race at Thompson is now a True Value race, and not the open show it once was. Anyone know more about this?

I noticed that also, sad really. They had a chance to make it a special race and instead replaced their flash race with a reduced flash race. Adding a TV mod race is fine but replacing the "not that big open show" & WMT race with it is pretty disapointing. One could hope that the special event on Aug 27th would be the open show but I doubt modifieds will be involved with it considering the WMT allready is running 5 times that month.

I am all for competition, but the WMT guys should not support that one. Next year will have 3 reduced purse races at Thompson. If he gets a good field and a good crowd the WMT will be in trouble there.

At least the admission is only 20 bucks... But that's a tough one to call. I definitely plan on going to the race. I wouldn't expect many tour drivers to show up for the race. Maybe a few of them that run the True Value Series from time to time, but not that many. I'd expect Teddy and maybe Blewett. Who else would show up?? Maybe Preece in his own car??

Personally if I were running the True Value series, I'd stay away from the big tracks. Keep it to the short tracks. Gives each series its own identity that way.

    Hey Bud,
I had the family ready to go up on vacation for late May - Stafford Friday and off to Vermont to visit Brother in law and T-road on Sunday. I have been informed that our daughter has finals that week so I may have jumped the shark on that one. Tarpon are on the gulf side of the state but we do have some nice dolphin and marlin on this side. redfish too.

I was hoping NSS would have held me over until Bristol just incase but it just made me jones more so I'm still trying for a second trip. I was hoping for big things for Louie down here but the TVmod contingent was not a factor unless you guys still claim McKennedy as one - folks I spoke with opening night there said he wants to be on the WMT esecially the big races but he's more competitive on the TV but it wasn't profitable. They said financing could keep him racing weekly and the conversation ended there as the green was about to come back out and he promptly bounced off the 00 so it was a shame.

Jaws has a great point, does TC and Brady, Blewitt and partridge want a crack at easy money or do they want to race for those little purses for the rest of their careers....

very few TV cars support Don's shows but he'll try and ruin mod racing for a few bucks.

And another one for you, Bud! Last years' True Value Modified race at Thompson paid a lot more than the normal purse! I don't have the complete payoff numbers, but a good friend of mine finished third in the race and was very suprised to find that he made only $200 less than the third place finisher on the WMT that day! And he spent much, much less!

Fat Albert: Please get your the facts straight before posting. No way third place for the TVMRS paid $2,800 at Thompson in 2008, someone is not telling you the truth.

    2008 World Series at Thompson
1st Place Paid WMT $7,000 Fact TVMRS Paid $3,000 Fact
3rd Place Paid WMT $3,000 Fact TVMRS Paid $2,800 ??? Not Fact, No Way
6th Place Paid WMT $2,850 Fact with bonus money

Also just to start WMT Paid $950 Fact.

I want to make one thing clear I support all of the Modified Tours (WMT, ROC & TVMRS), but the WMT is the only Modified Tour that posts the purse and bonus money it pays out. You cannot find that info anywhere with the ROC and TVMRS Modified Tours. Do you ever ask yourself why they do not post what they pay out ? Think about that before you answer that question.

The TVMRS Pays $1,300 to win for 100 laps of racing. SK Mods at Stafford pay $1,850 with bonus money to win for 40 laps every Friday night and Thompson pays $1,400 to win for 30 laps on Thursday nights.

A big thank you to both Stafford and Thompson for posting the payed purse for all of the racing divisions that run weekly at those two tracks.

    True Value race

Based on the 20 bucks admission price, I doubt the True Value guys are getting a great purse for this race. My guess is that the purse will be a lot less than the race in September. I hope I'm wrong.

It will be a little less! $3000 to win instead of $3500! Still not bad for a 75 lap race and on one set of tires!

I never mentioned $2800 or the Thompson World Series! But the fact is the Mod Mania 75 lap True Value race paid $2200 for third place and the WMT Mod Mania 150 paid $2400 for third place! Sorry, but those are the facts!

Fat Albert your are still wrong. Sorry 3rd place WMT paid $3,000 not $2,400 as you say. Look it up on the TCH.
