If I may lend a word of advice for you guys running your scanners. I don't know why but scanners seem to eat up batteries quite rapidly. The sportsman driver @ BDR I'm affiliated with goes through new batteries every other week for his (alkaline). As you all know I normally take a ton of pictures every enduro event. My partner Nitty used an identical camera to mine at the Frankenduro show in October and went through 8 sets of batteries to capture the moment where as I usually get about 5 shows at about 300 pix per show out of a set of batteries. The difference: I spent the $10.00 for a 4 pack of lithium batteries and he was using cheap alkalines.

If you want to save money... go with the lithiums. It'll cost ya about $20.00 to fill up the first time (most scanners use about 8 batteries), but you may just get 1/2 a season out of them... maybe more if you only run 1 promotion.

I believe Radio Shack sells a small 10 channel scanner that only needs 2 batteries. Don't know the price range, but a check of their website should give you what you need to know.
    Where did everyone go????

If you buy a scanner, try and get one with rechargeable batteries they last almost forever.........................

I agree with you whole heartedly Uncle Petey... BUT... I've been in this racing game for about 25 years of my life and I have yet to see a racing team who has their "stuff" together that much that they don't forget the smaller things. Remembering to charge the scanner batteries could very well be one of those smaller things that could very easily get overlooked.

    154.600 is the frequency!

As for batteries...if you need to go the AA Alk route....shop at Home Depot, they sell a 30+ pack of 'em for less then $15!!! I used to eat up 6 a night when I had to use my flash, so that was the easiest being that I was juggling too many to worry about labeling and marking rechargeables...

There was a 10 channel Bearcat used for $22....it is ending in a few minutes so not bothering to put the link.
Why not work something out with someone racing another class and share???
