    NHMS purse

If the Busch East purse is $217k and only 29 teams show up, what happens to the remaining money. The $217k is based on a 40 something car starting field. Do the 29 teams get more money? Does NHMS keep the difference. Any chance any of that gets used for other weekend events (mods)?

You are joshing with this question, right?
Sponsors pay for most of the purse and why would a sponsor let a track or sanctioning body just throw extra money left over into something else they don't sponsor?

The mod purse is just over $166,000. I may be way off, but I thought NHMS paid most of the weekend purses, just like Thompson and Stafford pay most of their purses. I don't believe the mods even have a race sponsor.

Money for races come from many sources to a track; spectator gate, concessions, competitors, sponsors. I presume the Busch East reference is to the Heluva Good! Summer 125. Camping World throws money in and I don't think any left over would go anywhere else is what i meant.

So the mod race purse is a lot smaller than the East Series? Nothing makes me madder than that. ( And that includes flash races)

There is something extremely wrong with those numbers.

Maybe it has something to do with the popularity of the East Series

    Then again , maybe not.

Bruton Smith has made it known a few times how much he likes the modifieds.
It's too bad he can't throw a little extra money into the purse.
Last place in the Cup race last year paid $69,000.

Yes it is, until you divide that number by the 4 days they are at the track.

    Eric Goodale

Big thank you to Whelen Modifed Tour driver Eric Goodale, who showed off his car to over 50 students today at his former elementary school building.

The kids asked questions and Eric posed for photos with each child sitting in the modified.

The kids are eagerly making a poster or two, which some of them will display at the Whelen Tour race in August at Riverhead.

The kids learned a lot about the cost of running a modified, the importance of sponsors and even a little bit about how bump drafting works. They learned about the places Eric will be racing this year, from Loudon, to Bristol.

The kids all were dressed in racing shirts, from Richie Evans to Chuck Hossfeld to Matt Hirschman, and learned a little bit about the drivers whose shirt they were wearing.

Just one of the things that make our modified drivers something special.
