    Broken sway bar links

Just fishing for advice again. Both of my sway bar links broke on me Sunday and the car seemed to drive just fine without them. Does the sway bar have to be connected, or even present to keep the car as stock as possible or would it be an infraction of the rules to just take it out? I just don't know enough about these front wheel drive cars.

well the sway bar helps prevent excessive body roll while cornering. they can be adjusted for stiffness and the amount of body roll for handling. technically, they are not needed to drive a vehicle, unless your driving a tall vehicle that is prone to roll overs. as for the rule book, I did not see anything about sway bar removal. my only thing is, say you get spun out, the bodies weight is going to transfer in the direction your spinning so it gives more of a chance to roll over.

When running dirt I disconnect the sway bar all together. I reconnect it when on pavement.

Good luck with it. I hope it's nothing seriously expensive or difficult to fix.

Sway bars are for asphalt.....not dirt, take it all out...you want independant roll...

If you are having trouble with excessive body roll, I would leave it in... If you are looking for more body roll, take it out... that is my understanding.

You can control excessive roll with springs though. I just finished reading an article about asphalt vs dirt and suspensions (Speedway Illustrated). I understand asphalt and know nothing on dirt, but that is what they said was the norm and it did make sense.
