    Cool Rims and Tires

Those of you who made it in the top 5 this week know I had out the rim caliber to measure rim width, and was checking tire width as well. It did result in a DQ for one driver.

You guys should all know the rules by now, please read them again if you don't! There are several others out there with wheels wider than 7 inches that have not made it to final tech yet this season but have been very close to cracking the top 5.

This is your last warning, please measure your rims! NO EXCEPTIONS EVEN IF IT CAME STOCK WITH WIDER ONES! 7 inch for all divisions as stated in the rule book!

Rick has a valid point though...

If a driver is DQ'd for rim size, don't come to Joey looking for solace...we're in the thick of it now in the points....now is NOT the time you want to get DQ'd over an extra inch or worse...an extra 1/2 inch.

A DQ this late in the game will take someone out of the running for top 5 if not top 10 at the end of the season....

Funny Rick brought up rims. Linsey has bent enough rims now that I bought a replacement rim and Wrecking ball Rummel promptly broke it. After closer comparisonto the rims we had been using the material is .15 " on new and .18 " thick on the old durable rims. This brings me to ask where other are buying rims. I need the 100mm X 4 bolt pattern. phil

    rims ???

I think there is some other stuff more important than rim sizes that need to be addressed.. Safety issues --- like the guys with their bumpers not attached to fenders, or not on stock brackets, and raised ... added radiators in passenger compartments ( this is really stupid) and definately should not be allowed !! ect

phill i believe the saturns, bmw, and some toyotas are the same size. try to find alum wheels. more durable, never lost the center, and whole lot harder to bend the bead.

    other issues ??

Read my post about bumpers !!! And as far as the radiators in the car you are right that will be coming to a screaching halt also! There is no bumper height rule, but i will determine if its too high .

I get what you guys are saying about the safety issues. But I believe there was one car that rolled over with a radiator in the passenger compartment recently and everything stay in place and was fine. I understand if someone has two sheet metal screws holding it in place but when its firmly mounted and shielded. I think at some point you have give the drivers a little freedom on their set ups.

    set up ???

Ok well as far as it goes for know the radiators in the passengers compartment will have to be nixed cause of the danger of leaking or hose explosion . and as far as the roll over you are right it did hold in place and no one was hurt but , the track rescue has leaned on us and said they themselves dont wanna get burned trying to help !!!! we will talking to the 2 drivers this week about it !!!

There is no need for a radiator inside the car.

i think that if guys run a radiator inside the cockpit properly shielded, then they shouldn't be able to run a front bumper. they're racecars not derby cars.

    Wink amazement

Great idea! Run without bumpers! NOT! This whole conversation about radiators is to ensure safety and then we get a proposal to let me continue to run my radiator and have me remove my front bumper. By removing a bumper you create two spears on the front of a car. That is why you get black flagged if ur bumper is falling off. And to set the record straight the radiator is still in the front of my car and is in a single closed loop with the one in the rear. That means a hole in my front radiator is the same as a hole in my rear radiator. It is to aid with cooling only! Not to enable me to use my car as a battering ram.
