I believe the design for the modified was someone else's design. It wasn't what the team would have chosen.

I believe the blue was one of Richie's last color schemes. And the orange isn't really a Richie orange either. But that's what someone (NASCAR) else picked.

Let's give credit where credit is do. I think it's awesome that Tommy Baldwin comes up with these tributes to begin with. Somebody that hasn't forgotten where they came from. Maybe NASCAR can learn something, but i doubt it.

I agree wholeheartedly that it should have been black and not blue Goldy! The red roll cage looks horrible and the car was ugly--in both appearance and performance--on the track today. I was pleasantly surprised by the 'minimalist tribute on the Boehler #3' - simple and it looked way cooler!

wow, folks are unhappy over which Richie car they chose to pay tribute with..... really. Yea the orange might have been a little off on the 4 but to say the orange and blue that Richie drove the last few seasons was not only a great modern update to the great pintos and coupes he drove..... the car was down right sexy.

    evans tribute

maybe it wasn,t politically correct on the 4 car but it is the thought and effort that counts in my book.To do what they did nevermind the expense that was pretty awesome. As far as the 3 the so called minimalist effort is far from that. the time to take them off sand clean prime paint and reinstall them was quite a chore.between the guys in the shop, myself,my son nick and jb signs i woukd figure probably 15 man hours to do it.It may seem MINIMALIST to some but it sure wasn,t to us,it was worth every second of work to the team and we,re proud and honoredto do it.

Do you think NASCAR was going to pay to have the roll cage painted? No. Maybe you can pay for it when your car is selected to run a tribute paint scheme. I haven't heard anyone call it ugly, in fact, when I was on pit road yesterday morning when the Evans' family was escorted down to the 4 by Tommy Baldwin, they said it looked great and I think the amount of pictures taken proved it. But then again everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Sorry but I liken this to the fruitcake grandma makes at holiday time. Out of common courtesy, you tell grandma thanks for the effort and you even feign liking it when she presents it. After dinner, when she insists, you might even eat a small slice just to not make her feel bad. As soon as grandma’s gone, the fruitcake goes in the trash! We still like grandma, but we just don’t like her fruitcake… The only difference in this case is that we use a little social networking to talk about how bad the fruitcake really is!

    Why?

Recognition for Richie Evans is long overdue. Now he gets what he should have a long, long time ago. That's what this was all about. Not the color of the roll bar, the nerf bar, the letter outline, etc. If you want to see that, go look over the restoration done by Art Barry.

I was lucky enough to have seen Richie and the real 61. This was a great tribute incorporated into a modern car.

The Richie Evans Tribute "4" looked great.

Modified “fans” (a lot of them it seems) really are the biggest bunch of whiners. My god, nothing anyone does is good enough because it isn’t the way you would have done it. The difference is, they did something to honor and show their respect for Richie. Your way of honoring him is to whine about what they did, or haven’t done. Funny I don’t remember Richie whining about anything, he went out and did something. Come on folks, the Garbarino and Boehler teams changed the traditional paint schemes, that have been their colors for ever, to honor one of their biggest competitors and it wasn’t good enough for you. Pretty sad! Thanks to them and to Tommy Baldwin for putting the effort out to honor Richie and Lenny. Thanks also to those that posted positive posts here also. I thought all 4 cars were pretty neat too. I am looking forward to seeing what better the complainers come up with to do to honor Richie, their way. How about going to the track and support the modified tour? (yeah, yeah, I know you’re not going because it costs too much to get in, the car counts are too low, they don’t run heats, the races are too long, the races are too short, the officals don’t make the calls the way you want, etc., etc.) Get out there and support your local track now, they may not be there much longer (I’d love to be wrong on that one). And…thank the people who are doing something to preserve the history and honor the heroes of the modifieds. It may not be long before all our conversations about the modified tour, or modifieds in general are preceded by the words “remember when”.
