FAN FEST, GREATS TO BE HONORED AND AUTO RACING HEADLINE AT WALL STADIUM THIS SATURDAY (AUG 12)

An early evening “Fan Fest,” autograph sessions with some of the area's all time racing greats and a special race to honor the memory of the track's first ever Street Stock champion will headline a six division auto racing card this Saturday night (August 12) at Wall Stadium Speedway. Grandstand seating will open at 4:00 p.m. and the “Fan Fest” will begin at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. And main event action will follow around 7:00 p.m.

On the famous third mile high-banked paved oval the Freehold Ford Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap main event. Defending champion Steven Reed of Jackson will lead the way with plenty of competition coming from point leader Jimmy Blewett of Howell and two-time winners Andrew Krause of Holmdel and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, just to name a few.

The O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks will play an important role in the night's festivities as they compete in the “Joe Kafka Memorial” race. Family and friends of the late champion have posted bonuses and awards for the race which honors a fan favorite who passed away due to natural causes earlier this year. Former champion and current point leader Scott Riggleman of Manchester, Bob Haberstick of Wall, Union's Joey Helberg and Elliott Wohl of Beachwood will be among the favorites in this event.

The Snap-on Sportsman racers, Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars, Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models are all also set for 25-lap races.

The Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will also take center stage as it honors recent inductees to the “Hall of Fame.” In a presentation sponsored by Merten's Jewelers, all-time racing greats John Blewett, Jr., Richie Massing, Dave Michel, Ray Liss and Tom Mauser will be among the racing famous on hand. In fact, the legendary Frankie Schneider, the driver who won the first ever race at the track in 1950, plans to attend if his health permits. All of the racing greats will participate in autograph sessions.

In addition to the beautifully restored cars of the GSVSCC, the Corvette Express car club's vehicles will also be on display.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at noon. Regular practice will start at 2:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. The on track “Fan Fest” will run from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. with main events to follow.
